What is Reiki

Reiki is a beneficial healing modality that is very popular and utilized for health and wellness. It is based on energetic principles and is practiced in many hospitals, medical settings, and in private practice all around the world.

The word Reiki is composed of two Japanese words - Rei and Ki. Ki is also known as Chi, Prana, Life Force Energy.

Ki is the non-physical energy that animates all living things. Ki is flowing in everything that is alive including plants, animals and humans. When a person's Ki is high, they will feel strong, confident, and ready to enjoy life and take on it's challenges. When it is low, they will feel weak and are more likely to get sick.

A Reiki session can help ease tension and stress and can help support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional. A session is pleasant and relaxing and is often utilized for one’s personal wellness.

Reiki is not a cure for a disease or illness, but it may assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing.

What is a Reiki Session?

Reiki session usually last 30 -90 minutes.

Reiki can be done in person or remotely.

When Reiki is done in person the client is fully dressed and usually lying a massage table. Reiki may be done with a light gentle pressure static touch or the Practitioner’s hands may be a few inches/centimeters above your body at the hand positions with no actual touch. The Reiki healer then becomes a channel for the universal life force energy Ki to flow through you and create balance.

During the Reiki session you may feel relaxed and at peace, you might even fall asleep and that's totally fine. Some people report feeling tingling in their body, heat, energy or nothing at all. The sensations are not a determining factor in whether the Reiki is working. As long you're laying on the table in a relaxed state the Reiki is able to do exactly what it is meant to do during that session.

What is Distance or Remote Reiki?

Reiki can also be performed remotely with the healer and client being many miles away from each other. It is the practitioner’s focus and intent to send the energy to the client, and that person’s willingness to receive it, that makes it work. Universal life force is not limited to time and space. To receive a distance healing you do not have to be in a meditative state but is it is recommended that you set aside quiet time during the time the energy is being sent.
